Geography of Opportunity

with Lionel Foster

Matt Story | 9/24/2023

Lionel Foster, Investor at Camber Creek,  believes he is defined by the triumphs, joys and struggles of the lower income and working class Black people of his hometown, Baltimore. The love that surrounded him in his community made him feel there was nothing he couldn't accomplish. He put this to the test as he has accomplished so much throughout his journey to become a reporter then communications director and now investor. He also utilized his experience and community built attending great institutions, like Johns Hopkins University & Georgetown Law, to develop his superpower of helping people be seen.Listen to his story to hear how he seeks to close the gaps that others have helped him cross. Three things you will learn:

  • you can create opportunities for others to help you when you position them in your story as a co-star.

  • that having trustworthy people in your circle who see the superpowers in us helps us build confidence in our ability to see and use them.

  • to find ways to build on the legacy of the institutions and people that have helped us develop.
